On Thursday, May 24th a delegation of some twelve MEDICO volunteers field team participants, Board of Directors, Board of Regents, spouses and staff attended a ceremony organized by the Honduran Embassy recognizing the efforts of medical mission teams in Honduras. There were six other organizations recognized at this event hosted by the Ambassador of Honduras, Senor Roberto Flores Bermudez. MEDICO's presence was the largest delegation of support at this event.
In Senor Bermudez's speech he made reference to networking opportunities within the groups gathered to help further all of our efforts in this country. His desire was that we would all assert ourselves in finding support through communication. It was a very stirring speech and left room for the NGO's present to respond.
MEDICO thanks Lic. David Hernandez, Counselor, Embassy of Honduras for engaging MEDICO in this ceremony.

MEDICO Recognized in Washington DC

On Thursday, May 24th MEDICO is being honored for the medical humanitarian care we provide in Honduras by the Honduran Embassy in Washington D.C. This is a very noteworthy recognition event celebrating our efforts in Central America over the last 16 1/2 years of service to people in need. This trip to Washington D.C. marks MEDICO's 2nd appearance at our nation's capital, the first appearance in 2005 when then President Ricardo Maduro of Honduras was in the US facilitating a Compact Signing Ceremony between the Millenium Challenge Corporation and the Republic of Honduras.
In addition to MEDICO staff members Lynda Peters and Brian Crowe attending, Board Members and Volunteers of MEDICO will be present for this occasion, some traveling great distances to participate. We will be sharing photos from this event in future Blog posts.
Special thanks to Attorney David Hernandez for assisting in arranging this wonderful occasion.
